Welcome to the Omega Delta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, the official University of New Hampshire chapter of the oldest and largest business fraternity in the world. Since 1904, Alpha Kappa Psi has been developing principled business leaders, and here at UNH, we carry that legacy forward every day.
Who We Are
Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi) is a professional co-ed business fraternity with over 298,000 initiated members across 219 universities in four countries. We are not a social fraternity or an exclusive club. We are a community of driven students committed to becoming the next generation of ethical, capable business leaders.
At the Omega Delta Chapter, we bring that mission to life on the UNH campus. Our brothers come from every corner of the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics and beyond, united by a shared commitment to growth, integrity, and one another.
1904: The Brooklyn Four
During the 1903–1904 academic year at New York University, four students — Frederic R. Leach, Howard Jefferson, Nathan Lane Jr., and George L. Bergen — walked home together each night after class, crossing the Brooklyn Bridge on foot. Known as the "Brooklyn Four," they wanted to create something that would perpetuate their spirit of brotherhood and prepare them for the business world ahead. They drafted a constitution and officially founded Alpha Kappa Psi in October 1904.
1905: Officially Incorporated
Alpha Kappa Psi was officially incorporated in May 1905, formalizing the vision the Brooklyn Four had set in motion and laying the foundation for what would become the oldest business fraternity in the world.
1950: Breaking the Barrier
On September 8, 1950, at the Grand Chapter Meeting in Minneapolis, delegates voted 66 to 14 to remove the restrictive race and creed clause from the Alpha Kappa Psi Constitution. The clause, which had been part of the Constitution since 1921, had previously limited membership to "men of the Caucasian race professing the Christian faith." Integrity, a core value of Alpha Kappa Psi since its founding, emerged as the overarching theme of the vote, opening the fraternity to people of color and people of any or no religious background, and reshaping who could help shape AKPsi's future.
1976: Becoming Co-Ed
Alpha Kappa Psi opened its membership to women, becoming a co-ed professional business fraternity. This pivotal moment reflected the fraternity's commitment to evolving with the business world and welcoming the full range of talent and perspective into its brotherhood.
2009: Omega Delta Chapter Founded at UNH
The Omega Delta Chapter was officially established at the University of New Hampshire, bringing Alpha Kappa Psi's century-old mission to the Durham campus. Since then, Omega Delta has grown into a thriving community of driven business students committed to professional excellence and brotherhood.
Today: A Global Brotherhood
Alpha Kappa Psi has grown to over 298,000 initiated members across 219 universities in four countries, making it the oldest and largest business fraternity in the world. The Omega Delta Chapter proudly represents that legacy at UNH, continuing to shape principled business leaders one brother at a time.

What Membership Looks Like
Joining Omega Delta means joining a chapter that takes professional development seriously. Brothers participate in resume workshops, mock interviews, networking events, and speaker sessions designed to prepare them for internships and the careers that follow.
Just as importantly, members gain hands-on leadership experience by planning and running social, philanthropic, and professional events throughout the year.
